ON SITE

The tour begins at The Unisphere in Flushing Meadows Corona Park and moves into the Queens Museum. You can begin the tour when you are in the vicinity of the museum. If you are taking the subway, you can begin once you enter the park.

How to Take the Tour

  1. The tour is available on the Gesso App.  We highly recommend you download the Gesso App to your phone before going. Click this link to the tour and press the cloud icon next to the title to download the tour to your phone. 
  2. Secure a time and pay-what-you wish ticket at the Queens Museum HERE. Scroll down to “reserve individual tickets.” 
  3. Bring your headphones and your device with you.

What hours is the tour available?

Sat & Sun 11:00am-5:00pm

Do I have to do the tour on site?

You can take the tour from anywhere and it is not GPS responsive. However, in order to fulfill the intentions for somatic reflection and processing, it is recommended that you do the tour in a place where you can be in motion and/or experience views with perspective shifts.  

How does being on site change the tour?

The tour offers somatic practices, ideas, and history that relate to the architecture of the park and the museum.

Do I need to buy a ticket to the museum?

The Queens Museum is pay-what-you-wish. You can meet the suggested donation, or pay nothing, but you will need to secure a reservation. 

How do I pay-what-you-wish?

On the reserve individual tickets page, scroll down and click the number of tickets you would like, for $0.00. On the next page, you will have an option to enter your desired donation amount. 

Do I have to walk?

No. The tour is wheelchair accessible. Most of the tour gives options if needed. If you are not able to access the Rubin Gallery due to the narrowness of the hallway, you can listen to the track as you take the elevator to the second floor, and move down the walkway, the hallway, and into the Panorama from the opposite entrance. 

Is there a transcript or place I can read the tour?

Yes, there is a transcript available for each section via the Gesso App.

I get a message asking to turn my location services on, what do I do?

The tour is not GPS responsive and you can click “Skip for now”. 

When the prompt for “Heads up, Your current setting may prevent the tour from working as intended” click “Ok”.

However, if you have difficulty accessing the tour, consider turning on permissions for GPS, or try “background app refresh” in your phone’s settings.

How do I leave a story? 

Once completing the tour, visit https://thesilentunseenproject.com/tell-your-story/ to learn more about the oral history project. 

What will my story be used for?

Your story will be heard by the lead artist and may be an anonymous inspiration for future projects. If you are ok with being contacted about future use of your story, leave your contact information.
